A Church That Blesses the City

The people of God were once told to seek the peace and prosperity of the city where they had been sent, even while living in exile. It was not a call to withdraw, nor a call to dominate, but a call to bless. In the same way, the church today is called not merely to survive its cultural moment, but to serve within it faithfully.

A church deeply rooted in Christ and strengthened together will not posture itself against its city in fear, nor conform to it in compromise. It will bless it. It will seek its good. It will pray for its flourishing. Wide reach includes loving the place God has planted us.
