Until We Meet Again

Some farewells are merely logistical. Dates are marked, schedules are adjusted, and names are changed. But Christian farewells are never merely administrative. When people have prayed together, suffered together, rejoiced together, worshiped together, and borne one another's burdens, parting carries a holy weight. Love gives tears their meaning.

Today I would like to present in this moment with you, to feel the weight of the sacredness of parting. Today we acknowledge tother the reality of grief without surrendering to despair. We honor affection without idolizing the past and entrust both we as your pastors and you as our people to the continuing care of God. In Christ, goodbye is never the final word. Even tears may become a form of blessing.
